Urban Earth is a sustainability consultancy that was established in 2010 and has staff based in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa and Nottingham in the UK.
Our work focuses on building the capacity of officials and communities to tackle environmental problems such as climate change. We also aim to harness the technology of the fourth industrial revolution to assist officials and communities to respond more effectively to environmental problems. Our clients include local government, development agencies, private companies, and non-profit organisations.
Climate change research & policy formulation
We have assisted organistations in developing more than 50 climate change strategies and have a core focus in the conceptualisation, formulation and implementation of sustainability strategies and policies.
Net zero transition
We work with organisations to manage their energy use and carbon footprint. We are experienced with greenhouse gas reporting, energy monitoring, developing energy policies, and recommending energy-saving interventions.
Digital tool development
We develop and help implement a range of bespoke digital tools to improve organistational functionality. These tools include websites, mobile apps and other database drive desktop applications.
Facilitation, consultation & stakeholder engagement
We facilitate and organise consultation meetings and information events in the sustainability sector. We have extensive experience in stakeholder engagement using a range of face to face methods and online platforms.
Communication systems development
We assist organisations in the sustainability sector to create an effective communications system and maintain an online presence particularly through their websites and e-newsletters.
Training & capacity building
We develop training courses and have extensive experience in building stakeholder capacity.
