Nokwanda holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her thesis focused on characterising the leaf area index of the Ingeli Forest’s Yellowwoods using geographic information systems and remote sensing, whilst investigating the applicability of the freely available data sets from the Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission and Sentinel.
She has ten month’s experience as a Graduate Intern within the Environmental Services Directorate at the KZN Provincial Government. This position required her to assist in the compliance, monitoring and enforcement of activities and the administration of environmental authorisations.
Nokwanda has always had a passion for nature and the assessment of critical ecosystems in informing biodiversity management strategies. And in more recent years, is especially intrigued by the sustainability and business interface.
In her spare time, Nokwanda enjoys a good do-it-yourself project, reading and learning how to play guitar.
