Margaret McKenzie

Director

Margaret has an MSc Degree in Environment and Development from the University of Natal and has twenty years of experience working in the environmental and sustainability sector. She specialises in consulting and strategy development in the climate change, energy and sustainability fields, and is an experienced facilitator, strategic advisor, and project manager.

Margaret has worked for a range of clients including national, provincial and local government, international donor agencies, non-profit agencies and commercial companies.

Some of the key sustainability projects she has worked on include: providing project management support to the implementation of the 100 Resilient Cities Programme in Durban; leading the process of developing the Durban Climate Change Strategy; serving as strategic advisor to the KwaZulu-Natal Sustainable Energy Forum; acting as the local project officer for the Durban Industry Climate Change Partnership project funded by UNIDO; and managing the Imagine Durban Project, an internationally funded project that developed a long term plan for Durban.

A further work interest of Margaret’s is communicating complex sustainability information into easy to understand language and helping people understand the data behind sustainability.

Margaret currently spends a lot of time at the beach trying to become a better body surfer.  She also enjoys exploring Durban on her bicycle. Other interests include walking, reading and listening to music.
